HUNDREDS of electricity workers and community members are expected to attend a mass meeting tomorrow to consider work bans in response to the State Government's proposed power sale.

Public Service Association organiser Bill Ferguson said the union would call on workers to stop co-operating with government requests for corporate information from power stations, and could go further if there was community support.

"We don't want to see the planning for a sell-off going forward until the Government honours its promises to the unions and employees that there will be a proper consultation process," he said.

Mr Ferguson said the unions did not want to alienate the public with stop works that resulted in blackouts, but would consider further industrial action if the community indicated it would support such a move.

"We don't want to create hardship," he said.
